An article in the Christmas 2023 issue of The Ringing World has called for more volunteers to help with coordinating and transporting mobile belfries, as the new “Touring Tower” joins The Charmborough Ring and The Lichfield Diocesan Mobile Belfry to provide a coordinated central ‘hub’ for booking these mobile rings of bells.

The newest mobile belfry, now named “The Touring Tower” after a call for naming ideas went out on social media, is expected to be ready on its bespoke tilting trailer by Easter 2024. It has been specifically designed to be quicker and easier to erect than the other two mobile belfries, but also to be lighter. It is expected that The Touring Tower will have a total weight with its useful trailer of 1625kg, which is within the capabilities of many vehicles typically used to tow caravans.
